Mentally Disabled

The Earth Saviours Foundation

The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 states that a "person with a disability" is one who faces long-term physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairment, this hinders their full and effective participation in everyday society. The National Statistics Office 2011 census report indicates that the differently-abled population in India is 26.8 million (2.21% of the Indian population), including 14.9 million men and 11.9 million women.

A majority of India’s differently-abled population is financially and socially neglected, with some living without basic needs. Since 2008, The Earth Saviours Foundation (T.E.S.F) has tirelessly and relentlessly worked towards the upliftment and welfare of the disabled. Our rescue center is one such initiative that regularly caters to countless members of the differently-abled community. With over 550 mentally and physically disabled residents, our center provides accommodation, sanitary food, medical care, ambulance service, and other essential everyday amenities.

Due to the unfortunate treatment of the differently-abled in our country, many of them are either rendered homeless or are abandoned by their families. This upsetting fact makes the task of locating and rescuing the differently-abled extremely difficult for us. In order to tackle this obstacle, we at T.E.S.T have teamed up with numerous external sources such as our local police, Govt. Hospitals, Hon’ble courts, and social welfare departments. Such sources, in the past, have both informed us about those with disabilities in their area and even personally escorted them to our center. At their arrival, the differently-abled are thoroughly fed, groomed, and medically examined by us.

Along with these external sources T.E.S.T also has its own 24x7 helpline/hotline number through which anyone can inform us about a distressed differently-abled person in their area.

Rehabilitation treatments

We at The Earth Saviours Foundation believe that rescuing someone in need is merely the first step a rescuer can take towards rebuilding their lives. Keeping this in mind, we provide various mental and physical rehabilitation treatments for our disabled residents, which track and maintain their daily progress. Such treatments include physiotherapy for injury prevention, holistic fitness, sustainable healing, exercises, intensive one-to-one rehabilitation, massages, and developing standardized evidence-based medical methodologies for the reversal of brain damage, etc. Doctors, nurses, and attendants are on permanent payroll basis, offering round-the-clock emergency medical treatments. In extreme cases of emergency we take patients to different hospitals in our local area. We at The Earth Saviours foundation believe in community living, ensuring that our residents feel at home. In order to maintain a lively and positive environment for our residents, we celebrate a wide variety of festivals and special occasions. Admission of the differently-abled to our rescue center is permitted anywhere between 10 a.m to 5 p.m, daily. A person with disabilities under the age of 18 will not be granted admission to our rescue center. Only in instances of an emergency will urgent cases be accepted, but they will not be provided with any accommodation, only immediate medical and physical care will be given.

We at the Earth Saviours Foundation are eagerly waiting for you to join our journey towards the upliftment, development and equal treatment of India’s differently abled community. DONATE NOW and become an Earth Saviour.
