Auto Sting Operation
During the Commonwealth Games 2010 held in New Delhi, India, The Earth Saviours Foundation was given one of the important issues as a special assignment. It was to conduct a sting operation against auto rickshaw drivers who were looting visitors and international budget travelers in New Delhi by overcharging or other illegal activities.
Our NGO’s vigilant team had organized the sting operations to catch auto rickshaw drivers, who were cheating, by denying passengers transport service to particular locations, misusing their auto meters or generally mistreating their passengers.
Most of these auto rickshaw drivers were caught uninformed, drunk and misbehaving. Our NGO’s vigilant team taught a lesson to such auto rickshaw drivers by noting their details and reporting them to the appropriate authorities.
Surprisingly there were also some drivers who were found to be well disciplined and polite with the passengers. To encourage good auto drivers we had pre-organized special prizes for them. We had rewarded them instantly with cash reward money, a certificate of appreciation, tiffin box, a boxful of sweets and even a Gold Medal for exceptional service.
During the sting operation TESF was able to use the symbol of Commonwealth Games (Shera) as official representatives of the Commonwealth Games Committee to mark its efforts for community welfare.
