WORK CARRIED OUT DURING THE 1ST AND 2ND WAVE
Since the start of 2020, Covid 19 has been spreading like wildfire all across India. With the number of deaths and cases rising everyday, our country’s social, economical and political structure has shaken completely. But one sector of the Indian population has suffered the most i.e. the poor and underprivileged. Due to inadequate supply and presence of medical facilities and job opportunities in villages and small towns, our country’s lower classes immensely suffered. Even the urban poor faced problems because of losing their jobs and insufficient funds to treat themselves and their family members. The lockdown led to many people not having access to items of essential needs, losing their jobs and not being able to provide for their families.
The Earth Saviours Foundation rushed to provide for and comfort these helpless souls. Our team of social workers and medical professionals provided them with the following:
Supplied oxygen cylinders to covid patients
Our shelter home offered free of charge oxygen cylinders and concentrators to the families of covid infected patients. All they had to do was place a call on our helpline number and state their location and requirement. After thoroughly checking the condition of the oxygen cylinder or concentrator, our transport team would personally drop it off at the caller’s location.
Donated Food and Other Essential Items
Distribution of food, ration, clothing, sanitizers and masks to the poor and underprivileged, during government mandated lockdown. Besides this, anyone could also travel to our shelters and get access to these essential items.
Opened Special Wards for Covid Patients
We created special free of charge, covid wards at the medical centre of our shelter home to accommodate covid patients that were unable to get admission to or pay the fee of, hospitals and covid centres.
Provided Medical Transportation
Many hospitals and medical centres had inadequate transportation services, The Earth Saviours Foundation provided them with ambulances for transportation of covid patients. Our ambulances shifted 20 to 25 covid patients on a daily basis to different hospitals and covid centres in and outside the state of Haryana.
Cremated Unclaimed Bodies of COVID-19 Patients
During the second wave of the pandemic, The Earth Saviours Foundation took the responsibility of thoroughly performing the last rites of unclaimed covid patients bodies at the electric cremation centre.
Resumed Seva and Welcomed New Resuces During the Pandemic
Thousands were suffering from hunger during the government mandated lockdown. Our team of social workers disturbted meals to many poor people living in sparsely populated and distant areas. Besides this, even during a surge in daily covid cases in India, our shelters did not stop its operations welcoming new admissions with open arms and providing them with proper medical and physical care.
